What does MTN Business offer?
We have 39 operational datacentres across Africa, all of which are linked via a Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network to provide our customers with a dedicated network line across borders. Coupled with this, we have also invested in a cloud infrastructure that no other organisation in the IT space offers. Moreover, we have agreed to use Microsoft Azure as the majority of our customers run Microsoft servers. This allows customers to move in-house applications to our cloud service without needing to make any changes first.

What is MTN’s pan-African Internet of Things (IoT) platform?
Our IoT platform takes automation to the next level and enables machines to talk to one another while making decisions on behalf of human beings. IoT has become popular in vehicle tracking, fleet management and smart meters as used by municipalities. We have also introduced global SIM cards, which will charge customers the same rate irrespective of the country they’re travelling in. By removing the complexity of roaming charges, we make costs much more predictable. The IoT platform allows businesses to track rogue SIM cards on an individual basis, and to switch these off as required. This means clients are able to control their businesses at a much more granular level. The IoT platform also offers a software design kit that allows customers to create their own applications and solutions, assisting them with expanding their existing business or even to diversify into new areas.
